When I started Sara Jordan Photography I spent a lot of time thinking about my business and how I wanted to operate. I remember doing a family photo session when I was a little girl at Olan Mills Photo Studio. At the time Olan Mills would do what I consider a bait and switch, they would have a really cheap sitting fee and then they would charge people exorbitant prices on a per print basis. Every time we scheduled a session we felt like we were being taken advantage of. I realize many photographers still operate this way today.
My biggest problem with this is that I would want more than one image, but it was too expensive. So here’s the way I do business. I charge a larger fee upfront for the session and you get all the digital files from that session, along with the freedom to print or post the photos as much as you like anywhere you want. The only thing I don’t know allow is for you to sell the images. I also offer printing services but you don’t have to feel obligated to have your images printed by me.
