Here are some things to consider when planning a portrait session. I find most portrait sessions last about an hour, during that time we can take as many photos as you like. Many times people will want to do large group photos and then smaller photos. So when it comes to a family of four we might do mommy with the two children, daddy with the two children, mommy the two children, and the photos of mommy and daddy. After the session, it takes me about two weeks to send your final images. This session includes all the digital files and some minor retouching.
There are several things you want to consider when planning the portrait session. The first thing you want to consider is what are you going to use these photos for Are they going to be Christmas cards, social media posts, enlargement, all of the above? After you’ve figured out what you want to use these photos for you’ll want to decide on a location. A lot of people like to shoot in parks or their homes. I personally prefer to shoot in un-groomed parks, where it appears you are lost in the middle of nowhere. With lighting being a major component of photography, after you have figured out the location we can set the time to optimize lighting. I find that many locations photograph better at specific times of the day. Now all that’s left is to figure out what you’re going to wear.
